We have entered this page regarding Dr. Lance Dodes at this time as a result of his influence at Cedar Ridge Academy and our current addition of a review of that school. We are quite disturbed by Dr. Dodes' energy that fuels the "Twelve Step Wars," and the damage being done by that unnecessary conflict. We also believe that he has clarified some issues (such as why tolerance and withdrawal which were historical markers of addiction, bear little relationship to addiction) while confusing others. We also believe he has over-generalized the nature of addiction then asserted an over-simplified and misleading one-size-fits-all explanation of its cause and etiology.
